Biden-Harris administration announces $6 billion to transform America’s industrial sector, strengthen domestic manufacturing, and slash planet-warming emissions
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) today announced 33 projects across more than 20 states to decarbonize energy-intensive industries.
For #cement and #concrete that’s:
- 6 projects
- $ 1.6 billion federal investment
- 4 million metric tons of CO2 avoided annually
Out of the 6 projects, 3 are to develop #LC3 in California, Virginia, Maryland, Georgia and Texas, creating employment and saving around 40% of carbon emissions in comparison to conventional cement!
The 3 LC3 projects include:
- Lebec Net Zero Cement Plant Project, Lebec, California, led by the National Cement Company of California
- Limestone Calcined Clay Cement Production, Troutville, Virginia, led by Roanoke Cement
- Low-Carbon Calcined Clay Cement Demonstration, Port Deposit, Maryland; McIntyre, Georgia; Elmendorf, Texas; Sulphur Springs, Texas, led by Summit Materials
